Don't give your life away" These words ring out with anthemic gusto in Pennsylvania band Die Tired's banger of a track "Better Off Alive". You might not expect to be graced with such life-affirming positivity as the track begins, with a vicious guitar riff and slamming hard rock drums. Lead vocalist Matthew DeAngelis' understated delivery of "A restless heart, broken from the start. And you think that you must walk this path alone" sets up a world-weariness that acts as a solid melodic counterpoint to the heavier riffs. But then the chorus kicks in, and it's pure rock n' roll glory, meant to uplift and empower, all while packing a powerful hook to keep it stuck in your head. It's a perfect, fist-bumping anthem to wake you up from any depression the world covers you in.
