One of my favorite activities, usually in August when I'm canning and thinking of the year to come, is making plans for new books. This year, I'm really enjoying this bit, since my writing has been going really well. When the muse is in residence, we scheme over batches of salsa and it is good.
Right now, I have a new contemporary romance series launching in February. The Carpe Diem Café begins with Just Trouble. You know about that already.
I'm also finishing up the Dragon Diaries Special Edition HardCover Omnibus Kickstarter campaign, which means all of my planned new editions of backlist titles are completed. After four campaigns, I also feel like I have a better idea of what works at Kickstarter for me. The short answer is PNR.
Meanwhile, I've been updating the website to its new theme, removing dead links, adding new ones, as well as excerpts and navigation improvements. This is the kind of repetitive task that lets my thoughts wander and the muse tends to take advantage of that. When I was doing the Incendium pages, she whispered in my ear: "what about those dragons?"
And she's right. I have series to finish but wasn't sure where to start. As the various series converge, the structure gets complicated. I went back and re-read Nimue's Gift, which (ha!) gives me a map. (This is a gift from past-me to future-me, although the muse is taking credit for it.) Ashe and Flammara's firestorm is next, but I wasn't sure where it belonged in terms of series when I wrote Nimue's Gift. Now, it's quite obvious that their story is book #2 of the Darkfire Chronicles - being incited by the release of darkfire. Here's a door opening to investigate darkfire more, and even more fun, to have a firestorm between two dragon shifters.
You might remember the darkfire sparking in Rafferty's firestorm (Darkfire Kiss) and how the firestorm couldn't be quenched. 😉 This story is going to be fun to write.
Kiss of Twilight will be Ashe and Flammara's story, and it will also be the focus of my next Kickstarter campaign. You'll be able to read their story early, as well as get a trade paperback or hardcover edition of it. There will be a new hardcover edition of Kiss of Enchantment, too. The campaign will run in March 2025 and the book will be available at retailers in December 2025.
Kiss of Twilight has a page here on the website, although it's a bit sparse as yet. I should have a cover soon. The Kickstarter campaign will go into pre-launch probably in the next month or so, so you'll be able to follow the campaign. The pre-order at the portals will go up by the end of this year. I'll share all those stages with you. 🙂 Meanwhile, I'll write the book
Also, this week, I should be able to show you the new Dragon Diaries Special Edition Hardcover Omnibus. I'll make a video of one of the books. The signed copies will have sprayed edges in gold, and eight of them will ship with dragon tote bags made by yours truly. I'll get the pre-order for these books loaded in my online store in September.
I'd also like to get the sample from Just Trouble posted on the site before next week's NL goes out. No rest for the wicked around here!
