My Review:
Meeting My Honeybun by Red Phoenix is the second book in her The Brothers Macallan series about the five brothers who live in the small mountain town of Crested Butte. They all have a reputation for being eternal bachelors so this series is about the women they fall for when they finally find the one. There was a good teaser ready for this book in Meeting My Forever about Malcolm and the new baker and her daughter. This is a fun Rom-Com with two matchmakers determined to bring this banker and baker together.
Malcolm is the president of the credit union and is committed to protecting the way of life for the community. He is a very serious businessman, with a stiff persona but secrecy writes poetry. He has no interest in having a relationship especially a complicated one that involves a seven year old girl and her dog!
Chloe Byrne is a single mum and the new baker in town. She is rebuilding her life and failing is not an option. Opening Sweet Treats Bakery is a fresh start for her and her daughter Hailey. On their drive from New York they rescued Honey, a golden retriever. She's determined to fight for their new life and a relationship is not in her plans.
I laughed at their meet-cute especially as his brothers thought it was hilarious as he is usually so stoic. There is an instant connection when their eyes meet and he is captivated by her. What follows is a series of events that keep bringing the couple together
Problems arise when her past comes to town, a family feud escalates for the Macallans and the local paper start rumours affecting them.
Being with Malcolm could be risky if she wants to keep her new life and Hailey. Malcolm has to decide if he wants to take on being a father figure to Hailey or just stay friends. He is still affected by the death of his mother so when an arsonist starts causing trouble in town, the memories come flooding back. It was amusing how he gets so confused over things and really doesn't understand women very well. Loved how protective and thoughtful he becomes especially to Hailey and how his romantic side fully emerges.
There is great banter between the five brothers and it was nice seeing how well Lance and Avery were doing. Their dad gives such good advice and their grandmother is such a character with her puns. The star of the show is the mischievous Honey but even their cow joins in the fun. An entertaining easy read about two people who actually end up perfect for each other and a family who provides the love and support Chloe and Hailey deserve.
