I was reminded in my Facebook memories today of a post I wrote 4 years ago and reading through my #selfpoetry from then (see post) and reading that I thought I'd make it a regular thing, which obviously I didn't, I have decided to have another shot. I'd love it if anyone would like to join me. I'm going to make this a monthly pursuit. I'm going to post on the third Saturday of each month (except for this post) and I'll add a link to the bottom if you'd like to join in, the link will be open for 4 weeks so you can post when works for you.
Last time I wandered around my bookshelves finding books that spoke to me, this time I chose to use only the books by my bed and next to where I sit in the lounge which surprisingly, or not, still gave me a fair few titles to work with. Usually, my poetry if very personal and reflective and with the titles I had on hand it seems to be the same for this post. Future posts may or may not be personal and might just be creative. I am thinking I might pick themes for each month. Since this is new bear with me.
For today's post, I didn't set myself a limit on the number of books I used except they had to be Books by my bed or couch.
This year I've often looked for REASONS TO STAY ALIVE,
I've been KEEPING UP APPEARANCES and wondering WHAT'S NORMAL ANYWAY?
Part of me wanted to SURRENDER to THE QUIET AND THE LOUD.
I've been waiting for someone to TELL ME I'M HERE and HOW TO KNIT A HUMAN back together when they've fallen apart.
I have realised I need to listen to WHAT MY BONES KNOW and see the BEAUTY in the RED DIRT HOME I love.
Because HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS.
Maybe I'm in need of a KINDNESS REVOLUTION and I need THE BOOK OF JOY to show me THE DREAMING PATH
So I can once again enjoy GUILTY PLEASURES and A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS.
I hope you enjoyed reading my poem as much as I enjoyed creating it and I hope you join in. Below you'll find a link if you want to add your post.
Next month, September, is my birthday and the birthday stone is Sapphire so the prompt is Books with Blue Covers (or Spines)
I am also going to share any art I've been working on during the month.
I'm in an art exhibition this weekend, I hope the weather is nice and people go and have a look, even better if they buy. Below are my entries.
So, if you made it to the bottom, thank you 💛 I'd love to hear your thoughts and know if you might join in future posts.
