BLURB

From author MJ Porter comes a thrilling new hero.

Can one man unite the Saxons against their common enemy?

The recent events within Kingsholm allow King Coelwulf of Mercia and his warriors no time to enjoy their successes or mourn their dead.

Unwilling but honour-bound to meet King Alfred of Wessex, Coelwulf journeys south. The man Coelwulf encounters is everything he fears. Alfred is no warrior of Wessex.

As the Grantabridge jarls gather at Wareham, Coelwulf and his warriors are faced with a crucial choice. Should they come to the aid of their southern neighbours or risk the return of Viking raiders to Mercia when the West Saxon forces falter under the enemy's onslaught once more?

To save their kingdom, they might first have to rescue that of their longest enemy, the West Saxons, and their inept king. The future of Mercia remains at stake, but her warriors will defend her with their last breaths.

REVIEW

Time to play catch up…I've read the complete series (so far) but neglected to review books 5-8, leaving only 5-star ratings, so without further ado and the strong possibility of repeating myself, books 5-8 are f%#$&ing great. Now, as for The Last Alliance, well, it's f%#$&ing great too. I especially enjoy the non-Wessexcentric characterization of Alfred and the amiable bonding between him and 'Lord Coelwulf'. Yes, my peeps and fellow Mercian aficionados, King Coelwulf has someone else to vent his rage upon…but what is most important, is that he's not done yet. 5 Stars
