Mojo lost in my reading and with that it affects the books. For that, I'm sorry!
Spoilers ahead from the last book.
Casteel is now with Isbeth as her prisoner, locked up and tortured. Like true villain fashion, tells him she will win the war and will stop at nothing to achieve it. While Cas is hanging on, Poppy is on the mission to get King/Husband. Along side her, Kieran, Reaver, Delano, the gang come up with a plan to not just get Cas back but help others along the way that are being attacked by cravens.
Bad shit everywhere.
With Casteel gone it definitely takes a toll on Poppy but Kieran is there to hold on to her, which made me very confused and not sure how I felt about it. With having taken a very long break in reading, trying to connect with the characters again was a lot harder than I thought. Not just that but the history and linage in this one was very confusing!
Poppy is growing stronger and everyone is telling her she will fuck shit up and yet they're not scared of her and poke the beast. Book 4 was more of a lead up to the actual war. Isbeth and Poppy going back and forth with threats and "prizes" isn't really a war per se.
A few shocking moments that I found entertaining but wasn't really focused on it. The one that shocked me the most was the continuation of the bond Cas, Poppy and Kieran have. Which again, not sure how I feel about it. Other than the Joining scene...yeah, totally fine with that one!
Overall, because it has been a while since I've read book 3, this one is on me for not being very invested and hooked. Hope to get back to my old self, and book 5 will be much better...for me.
