The Lost Girl by R.L. Stine is a book in the Fear Street series. In this book, Michael and his friends are terrorized by a man, Angel, that they think they killed in a snowmobile accident. Seemingly getting threatening phone calls from Angel's ghost, Michael and his girlfriend, Pepper try and figure out how to put a stop to Angel's revenge especially when their friends start dying. But the reality of what is happening might be tied up with the new girl at school, Lizzy.
I enjoyed this book. It is filled with suspense and red herrings that all connect to a decades old murder which I found fascinating.
I like Stine's writing style. It is very straight forward and matter of fact which heightens the creepiness as you never know what will happen next.
Finally, I enjoyed the characters. I thought that Michael was a very earnest and optimistic character despite what was happening to him and Pepper's skepticism perfectly balanced him out. I also thought Lizzy was a compelling character and I was never really sure what she was capable of.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick and fun suspenseful mystery that is perfect for Halloween.
The Lost Girl by R.L. Stine is available now from St. Martin's Press.
