October Wrap-Up: Reading, Life Stuff & More

I don't know about anyone else, but October flew past for me. Maybe it's because I have some big plans for November? Whatever it is, it means it's time for October wrap up so let's jump into the things I read, watched and did this month!

Reading Wrap Up

Covers of Malamander, The Bridge Kingdom, The Labours of Hercules, Shards of Venus and Gargantis
Covers of Firekeeper's Daughter, The Mysteries of Udolpho, Ledge, Taken at the Flood and Flawless
Covers of Indigo Ridge, Shadowghast, The Thursday Murder Club, In the Shadow of the Mountain, and If The Sun Never Sets

Firstly, can I say that I love how the blue/purple theme I've got going on with these reads?

Now for the stats. I read 15, including one reread (Malamander) and I had no DNFs this month. A lot of these were absolutely fantastic, but my favourite is Firekeeper's Daughter which is now my favourite book for the year. Out of the 15, 12 came off my TBR with another two from KU and then, of course, the reread. I only got 4 books this month so I'm ending October with 278 books on my TBR, which is 15 less than the start of the month.

Movies & TV

I watched very little this month—just a few episodes of two shows. I watched the first three episodes of Selena + Chef which was just something wholesome and easy when I wasn't feeling the best. I never watch food/cooking shows but I enjoyed these and I think it'll be a good comfort show. Alex and I also continued season 2 of Doctor Who—he's not loving these episodes so far so we've not been watching them often but we're halfway through the season now.

Life Update

It was my birthday this month so I'm now officially 28! Of course, Alex and I celebrated in style—by doing a yarn shop crawl and then having high tea. He bought me some very beautiful yarn and two books which you might have seen in my haul the other day.

Unfortunately, October also brings the anniversary of my mum's passing. It was nine years this year and it was a little easier than past years but I do still get quite upset—we were very close and her passing irrevocably changed my life. All things considered, it was okay.

I spent the rest of the month either knitting or thinking about Taylor Swift ahead of the 1989 re-release. Now that it's out, I'm obsessed with the Vault tracks, especially the last three—Now That We Don't Talk, Suburban Legends and Is It Over Now?

Current Reads

I started many, many books in October which means I've know got to try and finish some of them this month. I've also got so many that I need to start so I'm just going to talk about two that I'm working on right now.

Chain of Iron (The Last Hours #2) by Cassandra Clare

I'd really intended for this to be a priority this month now that I finally have the third book but I read the first 120 pages and I just wasn't in the mood for it. I hope I'll be in the mood for it a bit more this month.

Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus #2) by Rick Riordan

This is my knitting audiobook right now, but I just started it last Friday so I'm not very far in. This is a reread for me so I'm torn between wanting to savour it and wanting to read all of it in one go.

And that was October. I am SO excited for November! I love NaNoWriMo and Nonfiction November, both of which I've done posts about recently, but also my favourite readathon announced a surprise round for later in the month and I'm incredibly happy about it—but more about that soon! I hope you all had a fantastic October.
