This is one of my favorite books of the past 10 years.
A Gentleman in Moscow follows a post-revolution Russian aristocrat on house arrest because people like his vibe. It's more complicated than that, but it also isn't.
With my push to get my physical to-read pile lower and the never-ending quest to read the library's books, I haven't been re-reading as many books as I used to. So when I do, I'm a bit choosier, and I try to savor them. And this is a book worth revisiting.
This book is bittersweet. There's really no way of getting around it. And both of Amor Towles' books have fit that bill.
You're going to follow someone who basically loses everything in one sense or another, but you're also going to follow someone who perseveres.
I don't have a ton to say beyond read it. This is a book made for snow days when you can't go outside and you'd prefer to contemplate humanity instead.
