Happy New Year, Witches and fellow readers!!
Our blog anniversary has passed, marking a fantastic 7 years of blogging mayhem! I have undergone more enchanting transformations than a Hollywood star with a wand in those years. It all started when my real-life sister Norma started our blog "Two Sisters Lost in Coulee Reading." We brewed up some sisterly magic, reading books together and adding our combined wisdom in what we called "sister reads."
We then started a Goodreads reading group, calling ourselves The Traveling Sisters. It was like a literary sisterhood, with sisters from different corners of the globe bonding over the enchanted love of reading. Then, Lindsay jumped on the blogging broomstick with us.
As life unfolded and sisters came and went, I focused more on reading and reviewing books with Norma and Lindsay. Norma decided to take a blog and reading hiatus and is just starting to get back to reading. For a stretch, it was just Lindsay and yours truly. But life got in Lindsay's way, interrupting her reading groove. That left me solo on the reading broomstick, holding down the fort of all things bookish. My posts then temporarily vanished into the land of invisibility. I'm back on my blogging broomstick and shattering that review curse, and I will resume sharing my bookish passions with you all.
So, it is time to reinvent my blog theme and change my blog name. My love for feminist themes and tropes intertwined with witchy vibes has inspired me to reclaim the name "witch" from its historical use by men to control women. I am also dedicated to embracing a more positive lifestyle by welcoming good energy and banishing the negative using some witchery.
Using the play on words, I have changed the blog name to Witch Words, and I hope to conjure up some magical bookish content with a little witchy stuff and pay homage to the authors I consider "Word Witches." Authors are magical in the way they can captivate readers. The ones who possess a captivating and magical way with words cast a spell over me by enchanting, mesmerizing, and evoking a strong emotional response from me.
I continue to turn some bewitching pages with a few Traveling Sisters left in the Goodreads group and have also changed our name to Witches Words. Together, we are excited to discover the spells that words can cast and our shared love for the magic that reading brings into our lives.
As I turn the page to this exciting new chapter of 'Witch Words,' I invite you to continue this adventure with me, exploring feminist themes, thrilling and chilling stories, and witchy wonders in literature. Here's to many more years of bookish enchantment!
And occasionally, I will spread some of my affirmation "Witch Dust" to spark positivity.
I created the ideas for the images and used AI to generate them.
Today's "Witch Dust"
"If you could believe in Santa Claus, you can believe in yourself."
