A father takes his estranged daughter on a road trip to get her out of trouble, leading to their strained relationship being tested as they meet all types of strangers along the way.
Bleeding Love is directed by Emma Westenberg which is her feature length debut.
Bleeding Love is a movie that stars real life father and daughter Ewan McGregor and Clara McGregor. There is absolutely no denying that Ewan and Clara both play their roles wonderfully, there's a lot of cute moments and the performances come off quite natural as well. Clara McGregor is already showing signs here that she could become as great as her father acting wise, especially during the emotional moments we see between the two.
Everything else unfortunately holds the movie back from being great, particularly the writing which really comes off incredibly rushed towards the end. Feeling very incomplete as if there was still 30 minutes left but the movie wrapped things up for some reason, a noticeable flaw is how the other characters talk. While the characters of Ewan and Clara talk actually quite authentically (there's a few hiccups but for the most part it's authentic) the other characters talk in an incredibly goofy manner. It actually makes you wonder if they had any idea how other people talk.
It's a shame because I do think there is a good movie in here somewhere, it's just unfortunately piled in with a flaws that stick out like a sore thumb.
Bleeding Love is available on all VOD Platforms.
