Check This: Ellis – Black and Blue

By Stephen Jabaut on July 1, 2024

Artist: Ellis

Song: "Black and Blue"

Album: TBD

Genre: Pop, Indie Pop

Ellis Melillo, now known as simply 'Ellis', has a vocal texture that bleeds through the speakers and gets under your skin. It has a soft raspiness that soothes like velvet, and breathes like soft smoke. In her new single, her command and range of voice drives from breaking whisper to unleashed belt. The stacked harmony of her vocals paints a haunting tapestry of a love that didn't work out. One that may have left you angry, sad, and broken. Her emotional drive shines in her musicality.

Ellis has roots in New York, and is a working singer based out of Nashville. She has a forthcoming record that is being produced by Zac Brown. Her instagram is a nod to a deep cut track by Kacey Musgrave's.

Her new single, "Black and Blue" has a slow boiling quality, that captures her essence perfectly, as this emerging star makes her way deeper into the landscape of the music industry. Keep your eyes peeled for future coverage on her as she makes her way, and check out "Black and Blue" in our Check This 2024 Playlist!
