Review For The Baller By Lulu Moore.

By Kristawebster on Jul 16, 2024

Blurb:

My name is Lux Weston and I'm a matter of national security, apparently.
All I did was meet a beautiful girl in a bookstore, then rescue her. One… twice… and maybe a third time - from a creeper.
The problem? The creeper turned out to be Secret Service, and the girl… well, she's Radley Andrews - the President's only daughter.
It has disaster written all over it. I should stay away.
She's a student, I'm a major league baseball player.
She's trying to hide from the spotlight, I'm standing underneath it.
Not to mention I've never had a relationship, and Radley has her own demons to battle.
When she starts looking at me the way I'm looking at her, staying away becomes impossible. Soon we're sneaking secret dates and I'm making her breakfast.
While Radley might be the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, she's become something better.
Mine.

My 5* Review:

The Baller is book three in The New York Lions series by Lulu Moore. This is an entertaining slow burn romance between a baseball player and a college student.  If you thought The Shake Off was good then you are in for a treat with this one. Radley Andrews and Lux Weston give us a heartwarming tale which will have you laughing out loud and swooning throughout. Two book lovers who meet by accident and end up finding they are perfect for each other.

Radley is trying to cope with being the President's daughter and a traumatic incident which left her with anxiety and trust issues. She has started at Columbia with her best friend Millie for support and wants to live a life as normal as possible. She has to deal with having a protective detail of secret service agents following her everywhere as well as the stares and frat boy pranks.

Lux is a major league baseball player for the New York Lions. On a visit to a bookstore he helps a girl who is trying to reach a book on a high shelf and it was love at first sight. He finds himself helping her again at a bar one evening and then persuades his teammates to join him in saving her on her way back to her dorm with hilarious consequences.

The development of their relationship is superbly done and the supporting characters add so much to the story. Millie was such a good best friend, she knew exactly what Radley needed and when. Her interactions with Special Agent Jake and Tanner were brillant. His teammates at Casa Grayskull are hilarious again and still reading Cosmo!  Their banter and antics are great and the bond between them all is amazing. How they all help Lux with Radley just cracked me up.

It was lovely seeing Ace still in love with Payton but Tanner is asking for trouble with Millie and poor Parker is pining for Scout, so I'm really looking forward to their books. It was so nice how Tanner's twin sister Holiday, has an eye opening revelation that really helps Radley

I loved how Lux helped Radley to build up her confidence and find a way for her to live her life how she wanted. He was so supportive and always had her back.  He made her feel braver by making her feel safe but he was never overbearing. He was absolutely adorable, his love was unconditional from the start and he was so understanding of what she was going through. All he did for her and the dates he took her on were all so thoughtful and helped her learn to trust him which eventually allowed her to stand up for herself.

Is Radley making another mistake especially as her whole family support the Phillies! Can Lux win over his Goldilocks? With his help can Radley overcome her demons and learn to live, love and trust again. The ending is as perfect as the couple. Lulu has outdone herself with Bookstore and Baller, what a fun and uplifting story.
