I was hoping I would get to pen this post and thanks to Jude Bellingham and Hary Kane I do get the chance to share this very special post. Well it's special to me.
Yesterday I was working and feeling awful but I Daren t not call in on match day. I took my break to watch the second half I had been so busy I hadn't seen we were 1-0 down. My mood dipped but I still had faith, I got a seat and a Diet Coke and watched on alongside some humorous strangers. I won't say we were lighting up the stage as we weren't. Harry looked tired just before I got to watch the game I had missed Phil Foden's offside effort. We looked kinda sluggish and it was a hard watch. I was still hoping but it was fading, the thought of going back to work at us crashing out was beyond painful. We can't leave the competition this early we just can't.
In comes Jude Bellingham that was some goal I screamed alongside my party of strangers and burst into tears. I knew we wouldn't waste this chance but I also knew I had to get back to work. On I went and just as I changed back for work again I had a message from two of my favourite people with simply Harry. I knew I missed his goal but a lifeline for England in the Euros happened we're through to the Quarter Finals and it wasn't pretty but those lads dugged deep when it mattered.
Now I haven't been happy with some of Gareth's decisions of late but I still believe…. As a 10 year old girl I discovered the then Terry Venables England team of Euro 96 everything about the game, the competition, the players had me hooked. I still remember if you were out when England were playing it was eeerily like a ghost town - the whole world was watching. We were something special how naive I was to think we would win it in my first ever tournament. I had that much faith and I remember how heartbroken I was for Gareth. All the stick that came after…fast forward to him being England manager. For me him wining this competition would take my footballing journey on a full circle. We were so close at the last Euros what I will say is to beat Switzerland we need a better game plan as they will be a harder test just like Denmark were in the group stages.
We still believe….it's coming home….✌️🏴🙏
